Businessman and reality TV star, Donald Trump has swept US presidential competitor, Hillary Clinton under, after winning 279 states, compared to Clinton’s 228 states, to become the 45th president of the USA. The Republican president began as a joke candidate, stating that if elected, he will ban Muslims from entering the US, and will build a wall segregating the USA and Mexico, (and making the Mexican’s pay for it); after
claiming Mexican immigrants are ‘rapists and criminals.’
Undoubtedly two of the most unpopular candidates to
date, the election proved to be a case of the lesser of two evils, with protesters refusing to vote. Shockingly, Trump won crucial states of Ohio, Florida, North Carolina, and
Pennsylvania, which lead him to an eventual win, overtaking Clinton at the last hurdle. After Clinton’s medical scare and the personal email scandal, her supporters thought that she could obtain presidency despite the media uncovering Clinton’s secrets. Barack Obama’s successor believed the election was ‘rigged’ during Clinton’s overhaul of success in the early voting states, and the polls remained unchanged despite the attack on Clinton. After Clinton’s convictions had been dropped, Trump stated “Right now she’s being protected by a rigged system. It’s a totally rigged system. I’ve been saying it for a long time.’’
Bill Clinton, America’s 43rd president and Hillary Clinton’s husband, his cheating scandal during his presidency was a main topic in Trump’s arguments to defeat the possibility of America having the first female President.
Currently around America, Clinton supporters unleash their anger and disappointment at the election, by protesting in several major cities including New York and Los Angeles to voice their anger.
After a shock Brexit, campaigners are unable to fulfill their promises, will Trump be able to keep his?
The new President will officially take control on 20th January 2017.
